Litigation associate Helena Almeida spoke on a panel entitled "Testing the Boundaries-and Borders-of Private Securities Litigation" as part of the Hispanic National Bar Association's mid-year conference held in New York from March 13-15, 2008.
The panel focused on recent efforts to expand the boundaries of private securities litigation, and the practical impact of the judicial reactions to those attempts. Specifically, the panel discussed the effect recent Supreme Court decisions have had on private securities litigation and considered how courts are dealing with securities suits brought in the United States by foreign litigants and the opportunities and limitations of securities litigation abroad.
The other panelists were Pamela Rogers Chepiga (Allen & Overy), Debra M. Torres (Fried Frank) and Carlos Pelayo (Lehman Brothers). For more information on this conference,
