The New York Lawyers for the Public Interest (NYLPI) will recognize three Simpson Thacher associates: Reynelle Brown, Patrick Geary, Celine Hwang, and recent alumnus Colin Hsu at its First Annual Pro Bono Advocate Awards Breakfast, to be held on February 6, 2008 at Morrison & Forester LLP. Reyenelle Brown and Patrick Geary are being honored for their work with the Pediatric Neurotransmitter Disease Association, an organization that represents children and families who are affected by a pediatric neurotransmitter disease; and Celine Hwang and former Simpson Thacher associate Colin Hsu are receiving recognition for their representation of Partnership for Student Advancement, an organization that helps underprivileged high school students identify and pursue a career path by providing life skills training and career development programs.
The Breakfast will celebrate the work of attorneys who have successfully completed matters in the last two years through NYLPI's Pro Bono Clearinghouse, a program which screens and refers requests for free legal assistance to law firms and in-house legal departments.
