Simpson Thacher is representing Industrias Unicon, C.A. in its proposed sale to ArcelorMittal. Unicon is a leading manufacturer of welded steel pipes in Venezuela and employs 2,445 people across six pipe-making facilities in Venezuela. ArcelorMittal is a leading global steel company, with 320,000 employees in more than 60 countries. The transaction was entered into on January 7, 2008. The closing of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions.
