Simpson Thacher Hosts Inaugural Event for Kate Stoneman Project

On January 8, 2008, Simpson Thacher hosted the inaugural event for the new Kate Stoneman Project (KSP), a group formed by the women partners of 10 leading law firms in New York City. KSP honors Kate Stoneman (1841-1925), the first woman to be admitted to practice law in New York, and seeks to promote the advancement of women in the legal profession and women's leadership in professional, civic, educational and charitable organizations. Silda Wall Spitzer addressed the audience of 80+ women partners on “Women and Leadership.” KSP's current member firms are Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP; Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP; Davis Polk & Wardwell; Debevoise & Plimpton LLP; Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP; Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP; Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP; Sullivan & Cromwell LLP; Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz; and Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. STB Partners Marissa Wesely and Lori Lesser serve on KSP's steering committee.
