On December 12, 2007, Simpson Thacher litigation partner Roy L. Reardon was appointed to a three-year term as chairman of the Appellate Division, First Department's disciplinary committee. The disciplinary committee has jurisdiction over 78,000 lawyers presiding in Manhattan and the Bronx, and receives about 3,500 complaints a year charging lawyers with misconduct. Mr. Reardon has served in various capacities on the 58-person committee for over a decade. He was appointed by presiding Justice Jonathan Lippman, who was quoted in the New York Law Journal as saying "Roy Reardon brings a distinguished career and widespread respect and credibility throughout the bar to the leadership committee."
