Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP announced today that it has elected eight attorneys as members of the Firm effective January 1, 2008. The new partners are: Olga Gutman (Corporate-NY), Lesley C. Peng (Corporate-NY), Tyler B. Robinson (Litigation-London), Takahiro Saito (Corporate-Tokyo), Brian M. Steinhardt (Corporate-NY), Eric M. Swedenburg (Corporate-NY).
Olga Gutman is a member of the Firm’s corporate department in the New York office. Her practice focuses on hedge funds, private equity funds and investment management matters. Ms. Gutman received her J.D. from Cornell Law School where she was an Olin Scholar. She also received her LL.M. in International Law from Cornell Law School in 2001. Ms. Gutman received her B.A. from Yeshiva University, 1994, magna cum laude; where she was on the Dean's List and was awarded The Wall Street Journal Award for Excellence in Economics. Ms. Gutman joined the Firm in 2001.
Lesley C. Peng is a member of the Firm’s corporate department and is based in New York. Her practice focuses on capital markets and securities matters. Ms. Peng received her B.A. from UCLA magna cum laude, in 1996 and her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1999. She joined the Firm in 1999.
Tyler B. Robinson is a member of the Firm’s litigation department and is currently based in the London Office. His practice focuses on insurance and reinsurance, international arbitration, and other complex commercial disputes. Mr. Robinson received his B.A. from Macalester College, 1994, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and his J.D. from The University of Michigan Law School, 1998, magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, where he was an Article Editor for the Michigan Law Review. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Robinson served as Law Clerk for the Hon. Ferdinand Fernandez, U.S. Court of Appeals, 9th Circuit and for the Hon. Thomas P. Griesa, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York. Mr. Robinson joined the Firm in 2000.
Takahiro Saito is a member of the Firm’s corporate department and is based in the firm’s Tokyo office. His practice focuses on capital markets and securities matters in Asia. Mr. Saito received his LL.B. from The University of Tokyo Faculty of Law in 1991 and his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1998. Mr. Saito joined the Firm in 1998.
Brian M. Steinhardt is a member of the Firm’s corporate department and is based in New York. His practice focuses on acquisition, project and other corporate finance transactions. Mr. Steinhardt received his B.A. with Great Distinction from McGill University, 1994 and his J.D. from The University of Michigan Law School, 1998, cum laude; where he was the recipient of the Nadler Award for excellence in corporate finance. Mr. Steinhardt joined Simpson Thacher in 1999.
Eric M. Swedenburg is a member of the Firm’s corporate department and is based in New York. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate and securities laws and corporate governance matters. Mr. Swedenburg received his B.S. from University of Virginia and his J.D. from Cornell Law School in 1999 where he was Order of the Coif and managing editor of the Cornell Law Review, 1999-2000. Mr. Swedenburg joined Simpson Thacher in 1999.
