Simpson Thacher's Litigation Department Head, Barry R. Ostrager, has been recognized as “far and away the best trial lawyer in the business” by The Legal 500: Litigation (v. III). Based on extensive research surveying corporate counsel and law firm clients throughout the country, The Legal 500 compiled a list of the nation's top ten leading trial lawyers. Editors considered factors such as practice diversity, advocacy skills and victories and representations over the last eighteen months.

Clients interviewed by The Legal 500 distinguished Mr. Ostrager as a “masterful strategist” who “excels in complex, large, bet-the-company cases.” Though he commands an “extraordinarily diverse practice,” it is Mr. Ostrager’s work in the insurance industry that has “gained him most recognition.” Clients report that “[h]is impact on behalf of insurers and the insurance industry over the past 25 years has been immense [and] truly groundbreaking.”
