Barry Ostrager Wins 2007 Burton Award for Legal Achievement

Simpson Thacher's Litigation Department Head, Barry R. Ostrager, has been named a recipient of the Burton Award for Legal Achievement for his Handbook of Insurance Coverage.  The two volume treatise (now in its 13th edition), was produced with the assistance of many partners, associates, and support staff at the Firm over the course of the last two decades.  The Burton Awards, which honors the nation’s finest legal writers, is run in association with the Library of Congress Law Library. The entries are judged by an academic board led by Virginia Wise, a lecturer at Harvard Law School, Anne E. Kringel, Senior Lecturer on Law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Grace Tonner, a professor of law and director of the Law School's Legal Practice Program, The Honorable Ed Forstenzer, a judge from California’s Superior Court, and William Ryan, a direct descendent of Noah Webster.  The 2007 Burton Awards dinner will be held in the Great Hall of the Library of Congress on June 4, 2007.  Bob Schieffer, CBS News' chief Washington correspondent and anchor of Face The Nation, will be the guest speaker.
