The Firm recently represented the underwriters in a US$300,000,000 offering of 5.875% Notes due 2016 issued by POSCO (the "Notes"). POSCO is the largest and the only fully integrated steel producer in Korea, and one of the largest steel producers in the world. This global offering was underwritten by a group of international managers consisted of ABN AMRO, HSBC and UBS, and the Notes were sold outside the US in reliance on Regulation S. The Notes are listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange.
Simpson Thacher has in the past represented the underwriters in several global offerings by POSCO, including its exchangeable bonds in 2003 and American depositary shares.
The Simpson Thacher team included Jin Hyuk Park, Anthony Choi, Kristina Kang, Changsu Oh and Woojae Kim in Hong Kong.
