Simpson Thacher Partners Participate in The Office of the Appellate Defender’s “The First Monday in October” Mock Supreme Court Argument

10.05.06

Litigation partner Mary Kay Vyskocil served as a member of the mock United States Supreme Court bench at the Office of Appellate Defender's "First Monday in October” program entitled “NYPD Subway Searches: Are They Constitutional?” held on October 3, 2006. The annual event is a fund raiser and awards ceremony at which an important Constitutional issue is argued at a mock supreme court argument by prominent litigators. This year's case, “McWade v. Kelly,” focused on whether the New York City Police Department’s subway search program violates the public’s Fourth Amendment right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures.

Litigation partner Roy L. Reardon was co-chair of the event and serves on the Board of Directors of the Office of Appellate Defender. Litigation partners Michael Chepiga and Charles Koob served on the Event Committee. For information about this event download PDF.
