Firm Co-Hosts Event with European Commissioner for Competition

Simpson Thacher, in partnership with Columbia University and New York University, hosted a dinner for Neelie Kroes, the European Commissioner for Competition. Ms. Kroes, who was joined by Philip Lowe, the Directorate General for Competition, and a number of her senior staff, spoke about the European Commission's efforts to encourage more private enforcement of EU competition laws before a group of Simpson Thacher clients, including Microsoft, GE, VNU, Nasdaq, Heineken USA, Celanese, Lehman Brothers, Time Warner, Viacom, Wyeth, and friends of the Firm.
This is the first time that Commissioner Kroes has spoken to a private audience in the United States.
