Simpson Thacher Represents Reed Elsevier in $700 Million Global Bond Offering

Simpson Thacher recently represented Reed Elsevier in connection with a $700 million two-tranche global bond offering.  The bonds were issued by Reed Elsevier Capital Inc. and guaranteed by the two parent companies of Reed Elsevier, Reed Elsevier PLC and Reed Elsevier NV.  Citigroup Global Markets Inc. and Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. were the lead underwriters for the offering, which closed on June 14, 2005.  

 

Reed Elsevier is one of the world's leading publishers and information providers with total revenues of £4.8 billion ($9.3 billion) for the year ended December 31, 2004.  Reed Elsevier's businesses in the United States include LexisNexis, Matthew Bender, Michie, Shepard's, Martindale-Hubbell and Harcourt Education.
