Simpson Thacher Recognized with Impact Case Award at Benchmark Litigation Awards 2021

Simpson Thacher was honored with an Impact Case Award at Euromoney’s Benchmark Litigation 2021 Awards virtual ceremony for its work in the case Overstreet et al v. Mayberry et al. Litigation Partners Paul Curnin, Mike Garvey and Pete Kazanoff, and the rest of the Simpson Thacher team which included David Elbaum, Sara Ricciardi, Michael Carnevale, Tyler Anger and Katie Hardiman, received the award for their work securing, in a Kentucky Supreme Court unanimous decision, dismissal of all claims against numerous Defendants, including clients PAAMCO and Prisma, brought by eight members of Kentucky Retirement Systems, which manages Kentucky’s public employee pension plans.
In addition, the Firm was honored with the National Insurance Firm of the Year award and Mary Beth Forshaw, Head of Simpson Thacher’s Insurance and Reinsurance Practice, was recognized as Insurance Litigator of the Year. The Firm was also shortlisted for both the New York Firm of the Year and Securities Firm of the Year awards, and Paul was shortlisted as Securities Litigator of the Year.
The Benchmark Litigation Awards honor those firms and attorneys that have emerged as leaders in their particular areas of law over the past 12 months.
