Simpson Thacher Wins Second Circuit Appeal on Behalf of La Quinta

On August 20, 2018, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit affirmed the District Court’s dismissal with prejudice of a securities class action complaint brought against La Quinta, The Blackstone Group L.P. and certain La Quinta officers and directors. The complaint alleged various violations of federal securities laws. The court ruled that the twice-amended securities fraud complaint did not properly allege any material misstatements or omissions. Simpson Thacher also represented La Quinta in securing the dismissal before the Southern District of New York in August 2017.
