Simpson Thacher Obtains Dismissal of Investment Fraud Claims Against Best Buy

On May 19, 2022, New York State Supreme Court Justice Reginald A. Boddie issued a Decision and Order in Godish v. Install Masters, LLC dismissing all claims asserted against defendants Best Buy Co., Inc. and Best Buy Purchasing LLC. The Complaint alleged fraud-based and negligence claims against Best Buy arising out of Plaintiffs’ investments in several investment vehicles sponsored by Install Masters, LLC, which provided delivery and installation services for Best Buy. The Court denied the motion to dismiss in its entirety as to defendants Install Masters and related entities.
