Matthew Kemp

Matthew Kemp is a Partner in the Firm’s Private Funds Practice. His practice focuses on the formation and operation of private funds, representing sponsors across a broad range of asset classes. He also counsels sponsors on their internal arrangements, co-investment vehicles and continuation fund transactions.

Matthew represents leading private equity and real estate sponsors in fund formation matters including BOND, Canyon Partners, Charger Investment Partners, Coral Tree Partners, CIM Group, Prime Finance and True Wind, among others.

Notable work highlights include representation of:

• BOND in the formation of BOND III, a growth equity fund, as well as its predecessor funds
• Prime Finance in the formation of Prime Finance Special Situations Fund 2, which focuses on distressed, challenged, or transitional capital structures backed by commercial real estate
• Canyon Partners in the formation of Canyon US Real Estate Debt Fund III, a real estate credit fund
• True Wind in the formation of True Wind II, a technology fund, as well as its co-investment vehicles and a structured secondary transaction for LeadVenture
• Coral Tree Partners in the establishment of the firm and formation of its inaugural fund

Matthew received his J.D. from the Yale Law School, where he was a Managing Editor for the Yale Journal on Regulation. He also received his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with the Highest Honors. Matthew is admitted to practice in California and New York.
