Senate Rolls Back Key Provisions of Dodd-Frank
On March 14, 2018, the U.S. Senate passed the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act. Although not as sweeping in scope as the Financial CHOICE Act—the financial reform bill passed by the House of Representatives in June 2017—the bill would make targeted changes to several major provisions of the landmark Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010. The bill was approved by the Senate by a bipartisan vote of 67 to 31, and is expected to be voted on by the House of Representatives in the coming months.
