Partners Mick Tuesley and Mark Skerry, and Associate Brice Stewart authored an article titled, “Fla. Foreign Real Estate Law Brings Broad Investment Risks,” which was published by Law360. The article discusses legislation that was recently enacted in Florida, which aims to prohibit new Chinese investors from acquiring certain interests in real property in the state and requires Chinese investors with existing ties to Florida real estate to register with the state government. The piece goes on to further provide insight on proposed legislation in other states that would restrict foreign ownership of real property, in addition to discussing recently proposed rules to expand the scope of CFIUS’ jurisdiction.
