Simpson Thacher Attorneys Author Article on Passage of Connecticut Privacy Law

Partners Lori Lesser, Nicholas Goldin and Jessica Cohen, and Associates Melanie Jolson, Corina McIntyre, Alysha Sekhon, Bobbie Burrows and Kate Mirino authored an article published by NYU School of Law's Compliance & Enforcement Blog titled, “Connecticut Passes Comprehensive New Privacy Law.” The article explores Connecticut’s Senate Bill 6, which was recently signed by Governor Ned Lamont and makes Connecticut the fifth state to enact its own comprehensive consumer privacy law, following California, Colorado, Utah and Virginia. The article addresses which individuals and entities are covered by the new law, incremental compliance obligations versus current privacy laws and potential remedies for violations.
