Litigation Partners George Wang and Abram Ellis authored an article in Law360 titled “What Tighter Sanctions Against Russia Mean For Companies.” The article examines how the U.S., in close collaboration with key global allies, recently levied a series of increasingly broad and far-reaching sanctions against Russia, Belarus and separatist regions of Ukraine, that have forced businesses with exposure to the region, or to Russian individuals or companies, to react rapidly. It further notes that, in order to understand and stay compliant with the tightening restrictions on dealings with Russia, businesses will need to logically analyze all of their Russian touch points. These can include obvious ones, such as having a Moscow office or direct sales to Russia, but also should include analyzing both legal compliance and the business wisdom of continuing a wide assortment of less direct dealings with Russia.
