Antonio Bavasso Quoted in GCR on Landmark ECJ Telco Merger Ruling

Antitrust Partner Antonio Bavasso was quoted in a Global Competition Review article which discussed the European Court of Justice’s (“ECJ”) recent ruling, which will have major implications for telco industry mergers seeking approval in the EU. As part of the ruling, the ECJ held that the standard of proof to demonstrate that a merger could impede effective competition was “more likely than not.” Antonio noted that the ruling is a “comprehensive victory” for the European Commission, as it dispels the hopes of those seeking a more “lenient approach” to telecoms deals moving forward.
