Harlene Katzman Quoted in Law360 on Attorneys as Poll Workers

Harlene Katzman, Pro Bono Counsel and Director at Simpson Thacher, was quoted in a Law360 article titled, “Pro Bono Attys Look To Fill Poll Worker Gap During Pandemic.” The article highlighted how lawyers, law students and other legal professionals are being recruited as part of an initiative by the Association of Pro Bono Counsel to be poll workers for the upcoming election, especially in eight states with the greatest need due to additional challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Harlene noted that attorneys tend to be good fits as poll workers for a multitude of reasons, including that the pandemic has led to an even more complex web of laws surrounding who can vote and how. “If a poll worker understands the law in their state, a lot of voter confusion can be cleared up,” she said.
