Simpson Thacher Names Nancy Mehlman as Tax Practice Leader

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP announced today that Nancy Mehlman has been appointed as Head of the Firm’s Tax Practice. Based in the Firm’s New York office, Nancy has been with Simpson Thacher for more than 20 years and was elected Partner in 2009.

“Our Tax Practice has an unrivaled reputation for providing some of the world’s most sophisticated businesses with cutting-edge tax advice on complex transactions,” said Bill Dougherty, Chairman of Simpson Thacher’s Executive Committee. “Nancy is highly respected not only for her outstanding leadership qualities, but also because of her superb technical prowess, and we know that she will be an excellent leader for our Tax Practice.”

Nancy advises on tax issues across a broad range of matters including mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures, REIT and real estate transactions, tax-free spin-offs and related financing transactions in the credit and capital markets. Additionally, she represents private equity clients on tax matters related to both fund formation and the negotiating and structuring of acquisitions and dispositions made by those funds. Nancy received her LL.M. and her J.D, cum laude, from the New York University School of Law. She received her B.A. from Williams College.
