Simpson Thacher advised on the top two largest private equity funds raised in the first quarter of 2020 according to Preqin data. The Firm advised Lexington Capital Partners on its $14 billion fundraising for Lexington Capital Partners IX—the largest fundraising in the first quarter of 2020 according to Preqin and the largest-ever secondaries fund according to The Wall Street Journal. Simpson Thacher also advised Platinum Equity Capital Partners in its $10 billion fundraising for Platinum Equity Capital Partners V—the firm’s flagship private equity fund and the second-largest fundraising in the first quarter. In addition, Simpson Thacher advised Intermediate Capital Group Inc. in its $2.4 billion ICG Strategic Equity Fund III, which also focuses on secondaries deals and was one of the top ten fundraises in the first quarter of 2020.
