In the final piece of a three-part series, Funds Partner Peter Gilman is quoted in a Law360 article titled “How Law Firms Can Prep M&A, PE Teams for a Recession.” Following the theme of the series, the article addresses how law firms can prepare their attorneys to handle the change in work that would result from an economic downturn. Discussing how Simpson Thacher private equity attorneys are put to work on all kind of projects early on, Peter says “[that] helps develop skills that transcend market cycles. By grooming talent and equipping them with the skills to work on all sorts of different types of private funds that can be raised across market conditions, we seek to ensure that they will always have work to do, which we believe is the best way to learn. In this business, the reward for good work is more work.”

The article also highlights STBReady, the Firm’s training program for associates, which is designed to provide real-world experience and pragmatic skills through “specialized curriculum and materials to help train the next generation” and “facilitate the real-world, on-the-job learning that is so valuable these days,” according to Peter.
