Washington, D.C. Litigation Partner Peter Thomas was quoted in The Information in an article titled, “New Hurdle for SoftBank’s Uber Investment: Regulatory Review.” The article discusses deals by SoftBank that may hinge in part on approval from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Peter comments on an issue that can trigger CFIUS scrutiny generally. “The whole question of big data has become a major concern for CFIUS,” Peter says, adding that potential access to a range of personal information of U.S. citizens and residents would be considered sensitive.
