Simpson Thacher recently won M&A Deal of the Year by the Asian Legal Business China Law Awards 2017, for its representation of ChemChina in its announced $43 billion acquisition of Syngenta, which represents the largest foreign acquisition by a Chinese company. The transaction was also awarded Acquisition Finance Deal of the Year at the Asia Legal Awards 2017 by The Asian Lawyer. Additionally, the Firm won TMT Deal of the Year for its representation of Alibaba Group Holding Limited in its RMB28.3 billion (US$4.63 billion) investment in Suning, one of the largest consumer electronics retail chains in China. Separately, Simpson Thacher was recognized with six “Deals of the Year” by the Asian-Mena Counsel 2016 Deal of the Year awards for the Firm’s involvement in the following transactions:
