Simpson Thacher Represents Goldman Sachs in Comcast NBCUniversal’s Purchase of 51% Ownership of Universal Studios Japan

Simpson Thacher is representing Goldman Sachs in a recapitalization transaction in which Comcast NBCUniversal has agreed to purchase 51% ownership of Universal Studios Japan, partnering with the current owners including Goldman Sachs. Comcast NBCUniversal’s purchase price for the majority ownership of the theme park destination is ¥183 billion ($1.5 billion). The closing of the deal is subject to customary closing conditions.

The Simpson Thacher team working on the transaction includes David A. Sneider (M&A) in Tokyo, Wei Li (M&A) in Hong Kong and Phong Quan (M&A) in New York.
