Partner John Terzaken spoke at the American Bar Association Antitrust Law Section’s 15th International Cartel Workshop in Barcelona on June 25. John was featured on a panel with speakers including the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Criminal Enforcement at the DOJ's Antitrust Division. The panelists discussed recent trends in civil litigation that follow or run parallel to related criminal investigations. They also covered strategies for managing civil litigation risks during cartel investigations, explored the challenges that happen after the DOJ files a statement of interest in a pending case and considered how policy guidance from antitrust enforcers can influence a tribunal’s interpretation of competition laws. On the panel, John explained the role of statements of interest by the DOJ’s Antitrust Division to advance its enforcement priorities.
