Simpson Thacher represented Oaktree Capital Management in connection with the establishment of its inaugural fund in the life sciences lending strategy, Oaktree Life Sciences Lending Fund, which (together with related vehicles) raised $2.3 billion. Oaktree Life Sciences Lending Fund will aim to invest in private lending opportunities in the fast-growing, capital-intensive life sciences sector, with a particular focus on the biopharma and medical devices/equipment sub-sectors. With the closing of Oaktree Life Sciences Lending Fund, Oaktree now has more than $172 billion in assets under management.
