Simpson Thacher won seven awards at The Deal Awards 2019 Ceremony on June 20 in New York City, the most of any law firm. Included among these awards were Financial Services Law Firm of the Year and Technology, Media & Telecom Law Firm of the Year. Corporate Partner Brian Stadler was also a finalist for The Deal’s Private Equity Dealmaker of the Year award.
The Firm also won “Deal of the Year” and “Most Innovative Deal of the Year” for its work advising Aetna in its $78 billion acquisition by CVS and Dell in its acquisition of VMware’s tracking stock, respectively. In addition, Simpson Thacher received “Deal of the Year” awards in three different sectors—“Energy & Industrials,” “Healthcare & Pharma” and “Technology, Media & Telecom”—for the following transactions: L3 Technologies $33.5 billion merger of equals with Harris Corp; Aetna’s $78 billion acquisition by CVS; and Twenty-First Century Fox in the financing related to the spin-off of its news and sports business, as part of the company’s sale to Disney.
