Simpson Thacher Represents Barclays in Connection With Financing for Energy Capital Partners’ $17 Billion Acquisition of Calpine Corporation

The Firm recently advised Barclays in connection with a committed $950 million senior secured bridge credit facility for Energy Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on investing in North America’s energy infrastructure, in connection with the acquisition of Calpine Corporation by Energy Capital Partners and a consortium of investors. Additionally, the Firm has advised Barclays in connection with a committed $1.1 billion senior secured backstop revolving credit facility to be used to refinance the existing revolving credit facility of Calpine Corporation.

Calpine Corporation is America’s largest generator of electricity from natural gas and geothermal resources. Its shares are currently publicly traded under the ticker symbol “CPN.”
