The American Lawyer recently awarded Simpson Thacher two “Global Finance Deals of the Year,” in the categories of capital markets and acquisition finance. In the capital markets category, the Firm was recognized for its work on Alibaba’s US$25 billion initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange, which was the largest IPO ever conducted and represented the largest market-cap company at the time of IPO ever. The Firm was awarded “Global Acquisition Finance Deal of the Year” for its work on the financing of KKR’s acquisition of Goodpack Limited, a Singapore-based company and the world's largest provider of multi-modal, reusable metal box systems known as intermediate bulk containers. Simpson Thacher was also recognized in the Asia category for “Global M&A Deal of the Year” for its representation of KKR and Affinity Equity Partners in connection with Anheuser-Busch InBev’s US$5.8 billion acquisition of Oriental Brewery.
